Journal Entry: Fri Dec 7, 2007, 9:24 PM
Hi, it's me again, a year and a half down then line, and still haven't been terribly motivated to write anything stupendous in the interim.
Can't say I've achieved much on the gamer front either. World of Warcraft has been doing a pretty good job of consuming my soul, and a pretty hefty chunk of my time along with it. Although as I write this, I haven't even logged in since Monday, and even then it was only to do a transmute, and to give my guildies a chance to wish me a happy birthday directly.
Quite honestly, had I not stumbled onto the birthday wishes thread on our guild forums, I wouldn't have bothered even then. Last time I actually played WoW was probably last Friday or Thursday. Monday, being my Birthday, was also the day I decided to come down with Dengue Fever, or something very much like it, and I was feeling pretty damned poorly. Actually, I think I felt like someone had installed a blast furnace in my head, and then moved my house to the Arctic. (For those keeping track, I live all of fourteen degrees North of the equator.) Besides sleeping and drinking water, operating a keyboard and walking to the fridge were about the limits of my physical ability for 2 days. Wednesday morning I felt so light-headed I had to lean against a wall for 5 minutes on my way from my bed to my shower. (Actual distance of that trip: 15-18 feet... maybe less.)
The fever broke on Wednesday evening, and dinner that night was the first time I actually tasted anything I put in my mouth properly. Up until that point, everything I'd tried to eat tasted of boiled sea-water, day-old spaghetti, or glue. Since then I've only had to deal with an occasional cough (sometimes coughing fit) and a sore throat. Hopefully I'll be right as rain by the end of the weekend.
Reading wise I've been very, very busy since my last entry. I decided to flesh out the Anne McCaffery section of my library, basically finishing the Dragonriders of Pern series, alongside the Harper Hall trilogy. As I'd also read "To Ride a Pegasus" some years back, I also decided to pick up the rest of the Talents set. "Pegasus in Flight" and "Pegasus in Space", along with the Tower series. ("The Rowan", "Damia", "Damia's Children", "Lyon's Pride", and "The Tower and the Hive") I think I far prefer the Pern novels, but the Talents are some facinating characters to read about in their own right, and the Pegasus series in particular is very engaging.
There've also been a few new Terry Pratchett novels out since then, most recently "Making Money". The central character is again Moist von Lipwig, the same ex-conman that was thrust into running the (somewhat defunct) postal service in "Going Postal".
Gaming wise thing have been a little less varied. Most of the time since my last entry was filled with WoW, with bouts of Final Fantasy XII in those rare moments when I could wrest control of the TV from the other denizens of my house. True to form, however, I abandoned FF12 about 90% complete to start Odin Sphere. Score one more for the backlog. I swear, one day I'm going to get bored enough of WoW to stop playing, and I'll go back and finish all these other games.
Anyhow, as I'm still not absolutely 100% just yet, I think I'm going to close here and get some more sleep. Hopefully it'll be a much shorter wait between now and my next entry this time.

Dealing with sex is like dealing with breathmints. It's more polite to offer than to tell someone they DESPERATELY need it.
